Change in plot positions (effect Genecorp, primarily)
Posted by: Ron Leota - 07-11-2018, 01:22 PM - Forum: General Announcements - No Replies

Greetings Contractors,

Unfortunately, due to personal health matters, Kirsten (current head of plot for Genecorp) will be moving into an advisory role for the plot team and will no longer be acting as head of plot, for the time being. You'll still see Kirsten IG as her NPCs and she will continue to work with the plot team, to finish this wild ride she helped start.

I have a lot of love for Kirsten, as a friend and as a colleague. She's been a part of this project since the very beginning and it wouldn't have been nearly as good as it has been without her. From all of the Spite team, we wish her good health and recovery.

Moving forward, please send all Genecorp inquiries to Brooks, who will be stepping into the role as your new head of plot (brooksd@spitelarp.com).

Thank you.

  Melee weapon

I am thinking of a pair of these fire fighter multi tools for melee weapons. Would the holes in the axe head be an issue?

  Game 6 Feedback!
Posted by: Matt Oostman - 09-12-2017, 12:05 AM - Forum: General Announcements - No Replies

Please send us your feedback about our game! You can submit it here: https://goo.gl/forms/Ysy5sgWsgQldVYMr2

You can submit it anonymously if you'd like, or give us your name and we'll give you a Hive Point!

We'll close responses in a month after each game, so please get it in earlier rather than later so that we have plenty of time to process it and make adjustments in time for next game.

  Returning After 5 Games Away
Posted by: Bushioka - 09-11-2017, 08:16 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

So this feels kind of awkward, but I played in the veeeery first event as Dr. Moshe Weiss with RAID.  If you were around RAID during that event in the distant past you may recall a xenobiologist who sounded a little like Dr. Zoidberg.  That was me.  Now 2 years of grad school and a stint working in Japan later, I'm eyeing a March return to Oregon and am jazzed about possibly playing in Spite in April of next year.  However I'm concerned that things may have moved on so much that I have no idea what the heck is going on.. granted, I'm definitely bringing a new character anyhow so it's basically like being a new player all over again.

Any tips or advice for someone in my situation?  I think a more combat-oriented role would suit me better than spending my time science-ing, and I nearly made it to Game 2 or 3 (I forget which now) as a Russian sergeant who was going to perform in the USO show.  I've also got a possible set of gear for a military-ish character in that I've found a seller in Japan that offers Japan Self-Defense Force patterned gear.  Granted I'm not about to look Japanese, and I don't mean to offer offense.. is a Russian-descended trooper whose parents were stuck in whatever's left of Japan after Storm Day plausible?  Or at least something similar?

Or.. dun-dun-dunn... are there any groups more in need of a new (but not totally new) player?

  Smoker at Site

Our team is looking at bringing an electric smoker to game.
Tipping over is not an issue unless someone is messing with it.
Is there any issue with this?

  Chem lights

Is using a chemical light in clearing rooms allowed?
Example: open door, snap and toss light around corner into room to light up area?

Interaction of Armor w/ Condemn effect
Posted by: Sam Askey - 08-21-2017, 04:00 PM - Forum: Rules Questions - Replies (3)

Just a question about calculating damage when hit with a Condemn effect while wearing Armor. Do you double the damage (condemn effect) first then subtract 1 due to the armor (In which case bullets deal 7 damage and Drom claws deal 5) or do you subtract 1 then double (in which case bullets deal 6 damage and Drom claws deal 4)?

Plate Carrier as armor without inserts
Posted by: Rick Raddue - 08-07-2017, 09:23 AM - Forum: Rules Questions - Replies (2)

For the armor rules to count, the rule book states that armor must "appear functional".  Most of my team is coming in with plate carriers, which look like this.

In the real world, those vest by themselves offer absolutely no protection until you slide armor plates (thus the term "plate carrier") into internal pockets.  The only outward way to tell if someone has said plates installed is that the gear will look a little more bulky.  A couple of us have made fake plates out of EVA foam but if someone decides to not use plates in the carrier, will the vest count as armor per the rules?

Thank you.
