Undercover Agents!

This one goes out to those of you that choose to live life dangerously. The ones that lodge themselves deep into the houses of those who may threaten their cause. The ones who would sacrifice a normal existence and risk it all to further the goals of the Agency…. That’s right, I’m talking to you, Undercover Agents! In the time between games, we’ve evaluated the role and constructed a new Undercover Agent Handbook to serve as a starting point for fully understanding the role and the expectations that come with it. If you haven’t checked it out already, please take a look! You can find the handbook at http://bit.ly/1oMsVYl. One of the most important components of Undercover Agency for players is having an open line of communication with Plot prior to game. For many (very obvious) reasons, our ability to communicate with Undercover Agent players at game is severely limited, which puts any Undercover Agent that has not been briefed prior to game start in a position where they are largely in the dark. We want the Undercover Agent experience to be unique and impactful, so we are now requiring that all Undercovers provide Plot with the following information: Your undercover CG. Your PC’s first name, last name, and backstory. A facial photo suitable for in-game identification. An email address that you can be adequately reached at. If you are reading this and you are an Undercover Agent who has not already submitted this information, please do so as soon as you can! While we will not immediately remove Undercover Agents from their station if we don’t have this information by Game 3, we will be doing so in the future. These requirements are for the benefit of both players and Plot members, as having an accurate count of how many players of this nature we actually have is...

Changing SICs

Changing SIC’s? Is your human character looking to “upgrade”? Here is what you need to know to changing your Species Identity Classification or SIC. First, you can only be one SIC, and you can only change from Human to either Psychic, Cyborg, or Exim; once there you cannot go back to human nor can you become another SIC (in game, the body and mind cannot take the intense trauma of more than once change). Androids can never change their SIC (no Blue Fairies in SPITE). Next, changing SIC can only be done between games, while you can express your desire to become something new, and perhaps to seek out the in game resources to do so, the actual change will happen when you email Logistics (logistics@spitelarp.com) and they make the change in the Character Manager. Finally, hoping for some more drama in regards to your transformation? This is where downtime actions come in. Email the plot team about your intentions, spend the 3 Hive Points and learn all about what it took to become the newer (hopefully better) you. Written by: Cass J, HftF & Refugee head of...

Work, work, work…

Work, work, work… Greetings Contractors, The staff here at Spite is hard at work on many great projects. I wanted to give a teaser for some of the work that is being done behind the carapace curtain. Your plot team is feverishly writing your demise… Umm… I mean, plot for the next game. We have a lot of great ideas for year two and beyond. The new team is working well together and I am more excited than ever to show you all what we’ve got for you. Our technomancers are coding their butts off to enhance and improve the online system. Working out any bugs and working on new features for future games. Our crazy prop geniuses are working on new and interesting visuals for the game. I’ve done a minor overhaul of the website, adding images to help add a little flavor to the online experience. Our new Community Admin has been working hard answering questions and being an epic point of contact for our players. If you don’t know about Raissa, yet, check out this article. The Spite crew has been on the road, promoting the game at Radcon and we are aiming to promote at other local events, soon. If you are attending a convention and would like some flyers or business cards to hand out, please contact us! So there are just a few of the things we’ve been up to since last game. We hope you are all ready for a good time at game 3, I know we are! -Ron, your friendly neighborhood...

Downtimes Actions

Downtimes Actions DOWNTIME ACTIONS What is a Downtime Action? The time between events is known as Downtime. Sometimes players have specific ideas about what their character does in Downtime. Things like working as normal, participating in a small skirmish or other minor mission, visiting family, or other things that do not need Plot participation do not require a Downtime Action. Downtime Actions are meant to provide plot-supported story for characters. For anything that requires Plot participation, information or response, a Downtime Action will need to be purchased. Downtime Actions cost 3 Hive points. Downtime Actions are never guaranteed to succeed, and may have unforeseen consequences at future events. The information resulting from a downtime may be shared or kept secret at the player’s discretion. How do I Submit a Downtime Action? Write up and email in your Downtime Action to plot@spitelarp.com. Your email should be between 1-6 paragraphs with the subject line “Purchasing a Downtime Action” and clearly state what the character is trying to accomplish. We will respond with when you can expect the results of your Downtime. Results are usually sent out 1-2 weeks before the next event. What if my Group Wants a Downtime? Groups can definitely all go in together on a Downtime Action. This requires a couple things, though. Group Downtimes cost 3 hive points + 1 / participant (so if you had 4 people it would cost 7 HP) All involved PCs must be cc’d on the email to plot. Group Downtimes will be written like an individual downtime action but involving the whole team. If you would like to do specific, separate action it will require your own personal downtime action on top of the group’s. Have a single person write up your downtime action and send it in; however it should be approved by all participants before submission. All PCs will get the...

A Message from Our Community Admin

A Message from Our Community Admin Greetings Contractors! My name is Raissa (pronounced RAY-suh, for the phonetically curious), and I’m the Community Administrator for SPITE. My basic function is to make everyone’s lives easier in whatever way I can. The main way I do this is by answering questions. Anyone, new players, old players, or non-players, can contact me with any questions they have, at any point. Anything I don’t know the answer to myself, I have the resources to find out about. I also serve as a buffer between the player base and Staff members, keeping basic questions that don’t require a Staff member’s personal attention off their plate and forwarding anything that does to the appropriate person. Less-stressed Staff = better game for everyone. Members of Staff have busy, colorful lives of their own, full of families and jobs and friends and, on occasion, other hobbies, that they run in addition to volunteering their limited free time putting on a fabulous show for y’all. And while it’s true that I also lead a vibrant life full of stuff and things, my position is specifically created to facilitate the exchange of information between players and Staff. Emailing staff directly could possibly take multiple weeks to get a response; I do my best to get answers within a day or two. What kind of questions can I ask? Any kind! Rules question you’re not comfortable posting in the Rules Forum? Want some guidance for building your character? Wondering what kind of food is best to bring for an event, or how to secure a bunk? Not sure where to direct a question you have? All these, and more, I am fully qualified to handle. Or to confer with whoever DOES know and get you your answer THAT way. Either way, your questions will be answered as swiftly as possible. Not even sure exactly what you’re...
