Android

Androids are a “species” of semi-sentient robots created by Genacorp using acquired research from QueryWen. Androids possess a synthetic “outer-shell” but most of their internal workings are organic lab grown organs. This allows doctors to provide medical care for androids without special training. In order to maintain control over Androids, their brains are only partially organic, leaving room for programming.

Androids are used as workers, builders, and medics in extremely dangerous settings to lessen human casualties. Occasionally, they serve as disposable soldiers, but their inherent laws can make them poor soldiers in certain instances.

They are as intelligent as humans but are hard programmed with the three laws of robotics, inspired by Isaac Asimov, that limit their actions. Androids are able to learn emotions but start with no understanding of them; some androids see emotions as weakness, others believe they are a necessity to becoming truly “alive.” Particularly troublesome androids are subject to a factory reset and memory rewrite. All androids are assigned an operator who will give them their initial commands and usually move on to service other androids, leaving the AI to independently work in danger zones. It should be noted that androids may never change their S.I.C.

An android must act under a set of three principles and may not go against them without plot approval.

  • An android must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the first two laws.
